Statement:
In a lot of my art, especially the older peices, I don't plan it or pre-sketch it. The point of my art is the process, the puzzle of connecting all of the elements I've started out with into one unified piece. I like getting lost in ridiculous details, and hiding things inside them. Lately, I've been seriously focused on illustrations, so now I at least come up with a vague idea sketch of how I want it to look. My favorite artists are from the Art Nouveau period, and I take a lot of elements from the style, though I do not consider my style Art Nouveau. I am inspired by the story and fairy tale illustrations from books that I read as a child, and though my work is very different from these, I hope to pay homage in my own method.

Featured: Flower Girl

An experiment in mixed media technique and color. Watercolor, colored pencil, and ink. I really enjoy this style, and I plan to work much more with it in the future. This really works for me and I look forward to refining it.

New works in ink:

Owl in a rustic oval frame. Vines, leaves, feathers and sprays of berries are twining round the frame and outwards. Done in ink, black and white image. Very detailed.

This is an ink drawing of a clawfoot bathtub. It has curtains hanging on an ornate rod over it and swirling out to the sides. The bathtub sits on a rug with a daisy like design. The wall behind is square stones. It is done in black and white ink.

This is a drawing of a juniper tree, inspired by the Grimm's fairy tale, "The Juniper Tree." It is done in black inks. In the foreground there is a female child looking off into the distance, with a tree to her right. There is a beautiful bird in the tree. In the background, there is a little hut with a thatched roof, and trees growing behind it. There is a path from the house to where the girl is standing, though the middle is obscurred by hilly terrain. The entire drawing has a high level of detail, with curling leaves and grasses, and shaded in a tiny dot style.

This is an abstract image of a red bird in a black curling tree. It is done with black and red ink. There is a red bird sitting in a black tree. The tree is curling off to the right of the image, as if blown by wind. The line of the bird follows the tree, its tail trailing towards the direction the tree is winding. There are no leaves on the tree, but it is dense with curling delicate branches. The background is curly cues of black dots, filling the negative space. On the left and right side, there are ribbons of of red and black intricate designs.

This is an abstract drawing of weeds and plants and ribbons. It is done in black ink and shaded with dot style shading. It is highly detailed, with the stems and leaves twisting in and out of each other.
